10/12/17: FOREST CONTACT

FOREST CONTACT

MONOLOGUE WRITTEN BY CLYDE LEWIS

It appears that 2017 has been a year of a lot of catastrophes and I don’t recall a time in my career that I have reported so many volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, hurricanes and of course the massive fires that were ignited all over the country.

The summer’s record-breaking sequence of earth events has felt catastrophic and alarming because of the massive toll it has taken. This has even prompted conversations about what climate change has to do with all of this, and whether or not we are facing the end of the world.

While we can see that there is of course an inordinate amount of anomalies, some will write it off as normal – but I would disagree to a point.

I know that there are events in the season that can be seen as normal – the Earth is seems to be reacting to something whether it something natural or manmade.

Keep in mind that earthquakes have no season That makes it perhaps harder to process that two high-magnitude quakes could hit Mexico in September simply by chance; maybe even harder to process than Hurricanes Harvey and Irma’s double whammy and then by chance a third Hurricane, Jose takes a detour away from the United States after the senate decided to pay their dues to the climate science cabal.

But again you should also consider the spooky statistical improbability that Mexico City’s last great earthquake, which killed at least 10,000 people, also happened on Sept. 19, 1985.

There are still swarms happening in the area known as the ring of fire. Volcanoes are erupting everywhere and in the last 48 hours the Canary Islands have been put on alert for a possible volcanic eruption there because of a swarm of 40 earthquakes in La Palma.

The biggest earthquake, recorded at around 1pm on Saturday, had a magnitude of 2.7 and took place in the area of the Natural Park Cumbre Vieja, 28 kilometers deep.

The second largest quake, of 2.6, took place at 1.23pm on Sunday in the same area, while the third quake erupted at midnight on Monday, reaching a magnitude of 2.1, according to the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands (Involcan).

The earthquakes from the huge Cumbre Vieja volcano have sparked panic across the Canary Islands, with volcano experts pulled in to examine the unusual seismic activity.

If there is a huge eruption of the La Palma volcano it could spark a mega tsunami that has the potential to cause mass devastation in England and engulf Europe.

Concerns have been raised that if Cumbre Vieja blows on the Canary Islands, the massive slab of rock could smash into the Atlantic Ocean causing a killer tidal wave.

What more can happen that would have us all hiding in our bunkers?

The fact that the sky can fall at times and it appears that this is happening and NASA seems to be dancing around the issue all the while they are preparing for the big one to come down from space.

An asteroid the size of a school bus flew remarkably near Earth this morning, providing scientists with an opportunity to test the warning systems that would kick in if a space collision was coming.

Asteroid 2012 TC4 came close, passing Earth at a distance of only around 27,000.

There was no actual risk of a hit, although the asteroid did come well inside the orbit of the Moon and that of some human-made satellites.

While the United States was focusing on the massacre in Las Vegas there were a number events that were reported but not heard. All of them dealt with disaster events connected to asteroid and meteor falls all over the world.

On October 4th, a superbolide meteorite exploded over China.

NASA data put the velocity of the fireball at 14.6 kilometers per second, generating impact energy equivalent to 540 tons of TNT as it blazed across the night sky near the border with Myanmar.

According to history records, the largest fireball event recorded in China took place in 2009, when a meteor blasted into the atmosphere generating the equivalent of 2,300 tons of TNT in impact energy.

According to NASA’s data tables, the last fireball event of a similar size fell in June, when a fireball that generated the equivalent of 520 tons of TNT when it entered the atmosphere at a point off the coast of eastern Russia.

Earth orbits through a shooting gallery of meteorites and asteroids; such shooting stars can be seen crossing the sky every 15 minutes on a typical night.

Sometimes those space visitors are larger, such as the February 15 fireball that exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia, injuring some 1,500 people in six cities across the region.

I have spoken many times about how the exploding Fireball over Chelyabinsk, Russia is an important moment for me and my career. The reason it is such a huge event for me is that my radio show was the only radio show that reported the event within minutes of it happening.

Asteroids with diameters smaller than, 50–100 m that collide with the Earth usually do not hit the ground as a single body; rather, they detonate in the atmosphere. These small objects can still cause considerable damage, such as occurred near Tunguska, Siberia, in 1908.

Scientists concluded that the event was a probable air burst of a small asteroid or comet. The explosion flattened 770 square miles of forest.

It has been reported that an asteroid bursting apart in midair over a city poses a greater threat to humanity than a long-feared “planet buster” smacking into Earth.

A planet buster or an ELE leaves no witnesses. It would wipe out all of humanity. A simple airburst would create all sorts of damage killing hundreds of thousands of people and species of wildlife.

Two 15- to 20-gram samples of the Chelyabinsk meteorite that NASA obtained from Russia over a few years ago revealed a broad range of information about the meteor’s mineralogy, bulk composition and age, as noted at the Lunar and Planetary Science Conference in Houston.

These same fragments came off the path of the fireball somewhere around the middle of its trajectory through Earth’s atmosphere.

This means it was a fragment that was pushed to earth in a sweeper effect.

Sweeper effects have been known to push space debris into Earth’s atmosphere. There can be 300 to 400 pound pieces of space junk and rock that if they move fast enough can create several high level dangers forcing areas to go on alert.

The obvious observation that can be made is that the planet earth is like an ocean liner that travels in a very turbulent ocean called space. Everyone knows that the oceans on Earth can be turbulent. Just think of it on a larger scale.

NASA has explained that there are many Apollo class asteroids lurking in places where they cannot always see and that many times they have to rely on amateur astronomers to get the word out. By then, it may be too late.

There are also the close calls that go unreported as well.

Last year, NASA failed to inform us that planet Earth was hit by a space rock estimated to be as wide as a two-story building. It exploded with the equivalent of 13,000 tons of TNT while entering Earth’s atmosphere.

The fireball fell over the Atlantic Ocean in a place we are told is 600 miles away from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

We seldom hear of any damage or catastrophes that could be triggered by Near Earth Objects or potentially hazardous asteroids, NASA has managed to do damage control to avoid any and all chicken little from stealing their thunder; however, lately a few rocks have slipped through the cracks and they may be responsible for some of the wildfires we are hearing about late in the season.

For example, on October 4th it was reported that a major forest fire was ignited in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Officials say a man driving by the mountain the night before the blaze was reported says he saw what may have been a meteor hit the side of the mountain. They have not ruled it out the large meteor hit as a possible cause of the large forest fire.

On October 6th it was reported that home in South Carolina was hit by a meteorite the size of a golf ball.

Clemson astrophysicists visually confirmed that an unusual rock that hit the roof of a Pawley Island home and ended up in a yard.

Clemson University is working to arrange tests to determine the meteorite’s age, composition, history and origin.

A report from the American meteor society that was filed a week ago said that by September’s end it was reported that there were 125 sightings of major fireball explosions and fragmented rocks burning up in the atmosphere over Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Eight witnesses near the Mason Dixon Line reported delayed boom sounds a few moments after the fall.

Some also reported that the rocks ignited small fires in the area.

Six days ago there were a lot of fireballs seen during the Draconid meteor showers some of them creating sonic booms in the sky.

Meanwhile, the deadly fires in California have been burning, destroying property and leaving areas looking like scenes from an apocalyptic movie.

Authorities say just about anything could have started any one of the wildfires now tearing through Northern California.

Fire officials have not yet determined the cause of any of the 17 major fires burning north of San Francisco. They say anything from a carelessly discarded cigarette, a downed power line, a car’s backfire or a chainsaw’s pull could all be a possible ignition source.

But should researchers consider fireballs that have been triggering fires?

Observations made by United States Department of Defense and Department of Energy space-based systems in geostationary orbits are designed to detect the signature of nuclear explosions and other objects of military interest on or above Earth’s surface.

There has been a huge amount of explosive fireballs that have been detected over the Unites states since the beginning of September. There has also been an increase in solar activity with northern lights sightings happening in southern latitudes. A series of class X solar flares seem to have been the harbingers of unprecedented natural phenomena, in both quantity and intensity.

For the past eight years, data from optical events registered as probable bolides have been recorded and saved for later examination. In total, 300 events have been designated as probable bolides that have had potential of triggering fires or other catastrophic damage.

According to a chart posted by American Meteor Society, on October 7th, San Francisco, Roseville , Berkley , and San Jose there were many sightings of huge bolides in the area or balls of light that were falling out of the sky.

Meanwhile, anomalous events associated with the fires have residents thinking that they are not natural. Residents reported that whole some houses were leveled by the fires some houses right next to the leveled one remained untouched. Others reports that the while the trees appeared to be scorched – they did not burn but cars near them were melted.

Some are even reporting that during the night of the fireballs – a strange sound was heard in the sky before and during the fires.

So the question is: What really happened with the fires in California? The event is becoming more and more bizarre as the fires continue to destroy property and take human life.
