According to the ancient Jewish tradition, when God created the world He fought the terrible sea monster ― Leviathan. In the end of days, a bitter battle will take place between the Creator and the beast, and eventually God will destroy Leviathan. This act will symbolize the end of the world, as we know it and the beginning of a new utopian era.

This thought contrasts the biblical Story of Creation as described in the Book of Genesis, chapter 1:21 according to which “God created the great sea monsters” and “giant winged creatures.”

But according to ancient Jewish creation myths, these creatures were large reptiles, and sea monsters. The winged creatures were bigger than normal birds and were hideous.

These beasts were called creatures of the abyss.

It is said in ancient Jewish texts that before God created mankind he waged war on these creatures because he wanted them to submit to his authority, and allow Him to impose order in the form of the Creation. He began by commanding the darkness to disappear and make way for the light, and then went out to fight the creatures that lived in the depths of the darkest abyss.

First, God crushed Rahab, a giant that controlled the ancient waters, and dispatched it to the bottom of the sea. He then turned his attention to Leviathan.

Leviathan is said to have been a sea monster with as many eyes as the days of the year, scales that shone like the sun, massive jaws, a mouth that spewed fire and flames, nostrils that breathed smoke, and eyes that sprayed jets of light. This colossal creature moved across the seas leaving a glowing wake, or else remained in the depths of the ocean boiling the water and producing steam.

There were creatures that took flight and created terrible wind storms. Anzu was one of the desert bird-like creatures. It had large eyes and a lion’s head.

In the Book of Revelation, these beings were called unclean spirits and were often described as composite beings both, human and animal that lived in the bottomless pit. They were put there by God himself just before the creation of mankind.

Some of the descriptions included humans with bodies of frogs, flying serpents, humans with heads like formless dogs. There were others that were described as humans with bull’s heads – dragons with faces like birds, and one of the most terrifying creatures of all was the demon of the winds, his name was Pazuzu.

Pazuzu, the winged creature of Mesopotamia, is a horrifying entity with glowing eyes and a face like a dog. The Book of Revelation also describes the demonic winged locusts from the abyss armed as battle horses with human faces.

All of these creatures were seen as harbingers of the end times. It is also said that the key to the bottomless pit would be handed over to Abaddon the Destroyer to let lose the creatures that God put asunder at the time of creation.

Abaddon is the destroying angel of the bottomless pit. His name is derived from the Hebrew, abad, to be ruined or “lost,” meaning the lost one, but the full name of Abaddon means “destruction”. The word appears in Greek and Hebrew, but not in Latin.

His name in Greek was Apollyon and used in the Old Testament to mean hell. This angel-prince of the abyss is the leader of the locusts of Revelation and is typified as the cause of wars and upheavals, the minister of death and author of havoc on Earth.

Abbadon is an enigma. At times, he is an angel of judgment, not of Satan but of God, destroying at God’s bidding.

Both Heaven and Hell claim him as an ally, other times as an enemy. It is clear that he is the angel who will command the monstrous horde of creatures from the Abyss that will rampage over the Earth.

There have been numerous religious scholars and analysts that have made good arguments about how the Earth is in constant ebb and flow through the veil. Now that we have seen advancement in particle physics and the possibilities of opening doorways into other worlds—the argument has been made the Large Hadron Collider at CERN fulfills prophecy as the bottomless pit that will unleash the fury of the winged Abaddon or Appolyian.

A large portion of the facility is located in the territory of Saint Genis Pouilly. This area was known to the Romans as Apollicaum. The area had a temple dedicated to Apollyon.

In The Book of Revelation, chapter 9:11, the bottomless pit is ruled by the dark winged angel Abaddon or Apollyon—the destroying angels who rule over the creatures that will come from the deep bottomless abyss.

Ancient tradition attributes considerable importance to the powerful images of winged creatures, reptilian beasts and sea monsters. If we are to believe the Bible and ancient texts there will be a time where these creatures will be released heralding the end of the world.

The parallels between the Biblical monsters from the deep and some pagan imagery are no accident. It is also no accident that the destroyer God, Lord Shiva can be found on the campus of CERN in Switzerland.

Although it is an unsettling hypothesis, modern eyewitness accounts seem to illustrate that these ancient creatures that were once locked away by God have surfaced in our time –and are alarming harbingers of doom, as they were in ancient times.

Recently it was reported that a giant carcass found washed up on a beach in Indonesia’s central Maluku province. Fishermen in the area have not identified it.

Locals first shared images of the carcass, measuring about 50 ft in length, on Wednesday. The creature is believed to have been dead for at least three days before being discovered.

According to local reports, fishermen thought it to be a giant squid, but a coordinator of Indonesia’s Marine and Coastal Resources Management said it was likely to be a whale. Lab tests are underway to confirm the species.

Continually, we hear about sightings of the vicious demon dog and winged chupacabra in the south, The Chitauri, who are shape shifting reptilian beings from Africa, Bigfoot in the mountain ranges of the Northwest, The Jersey Devil from New jersey, The Loch Ness Monster in Scotland and “The Mothman” from West Virginia.

It has been proposed the Mothman could very well be the angel of death or even a destructive being like Apollyon as sightings of the Mothman foretell impending disaster.

This winged human-looking creature was first reported by citizens of West Virginia during the year prior to the horrible collapse of the Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant.

The Silver Bridge was built in 1928 and connected Point Pleasant, West Virginia, and Gallipolis, Ohio. On December 15, 1967, it collapsed and then crumbled into the Ohio River during rush hour, killing 46 people without warning. It was one of the worst catastrophes in American history.

There are Native American legends about a winged-creature with a dog face, red eyes and a serpent’s body that haunted the Ohio Valley. This is very similar to modern sightings and description of the Mothman.

Mothman is said to have also been seen prior to other disasters outside of Point Pleasant adding to the possibility of it being a winged demon, harbinger of doom or angel of death.

In 1978, there was a report of a man wearing a trench coat standing in front of a mine located in Freiburg, Germany. Miners attempted to approach the man when they realized that the man was not wearing a trench coat but had huge wings that covered his body.

The miners who had approached stood in shock and after a moment the dark figure let out a series of piercing shrieks which would later be described by eye witnesses as sounding like 50 men screaming and the sound of a train’s emergency breaks. The minors fled from the creature and the mine’s entrance, from a safe distance the men observed what would later be dubbed the Freiburg Shrieker as it folded its wings back around its body and stood motionless in front of the mine.

The miners reportedly began to busy themselves with clean up outside of the mine, hoping that the Shrieker would go away, it is unclear why they did not reported the beast to the local authorities. After waiting for what seemed like an hour, at approximately 8am, the miners were startled by a massive subterranean explosion which rocked the mine and shook the very ground on which they stood. They rushed to the mine’s entrance to discover the Shrieker was gone and a huge plume of smoke and flame bellowed from the entrance of the mine.

In 1986, shortly before the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster a human looking creature with wings was supposedly sighted, giving some credibility to the idea that the creature is sign of a nearing horrific event.

Four workers at the Chernobyl plant made reports of seeing the creature over the site, and even stranger still, those who had made reports or claimed to have seen it, went on to state they had suffered from horrific nightmares.

Just recently there have been at least three reports of the Mothman seen in Chicago.

According to Roger Marsh reporting for the Mutual UFO Network, a Mothman-type creature is being reported in Chicago by three separate witnesses over a four-hour period, according to three witness reports from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The cases took place between 10 p.m. on April 15, 2017, and 2 a.m. on April 16, 2017.

In the witness was out on Lake Michigan with her husband and two other couples celebrating a friend’s birthday.

“We were about two miles out on the lake, just off of Montrose at about 10 p.m.,” the witness stated. “We were enjoying ourselves when I happen to look up and saw what looked like a giant bat, and not like a fox bat (which I looked up and saw was the biggest bat). This bat was as tall as my husband, who is 6-foot, 4-inches, or even bigger.”

The witness described the creature.

“It was solid black with eyes that seemed to reflect the moonlight. This bat was blacker than the surrounding night sky and was perfectly silhouetted against the moonlit sky. This bat circled the boat three times in complete silence before heading off towards Montrose. It quickly blended into the night sky and was gone in seconds.”

About five minutes after seeing the creature, the same witness saw a bright green object traveling north to south at the horizon.

“It was not a plane as it was brilliant green and was moving slowly across the horizon. If I had to estimate, it was about two miles from our position. After the object was out of sight, we sat there looking around in stunned silence. I began feeling this overwhelming sensation of dread and told my husband that I felt that it was prudent that we get off the water as quickly as possible. I tried to get a picture of the thing as it circled our boat, but all I got was black.”

Thirty minutes later, another witness was “hanging out with my boys and a few friends” in Chicago at 10:30 p.m.

“As we talked about work and our families, we heard what sounded like a bird flapping its wings,” the witness stated. “One of my homies yelled out that he saw a huge Lechuza over by the road.”

The Lechuza is a Mexican urban legend or myth about an old woman who can turn into a giant, black bird.

“We walked over there and saw what looked like a big owl. As we walked up on it, this owl stood up on two feet and looked right at us. We saw what looked like a huge Lechuza, except it was about six feet tall and really big. It had large glowing red eyes that were completely freaking everybody out. We all yelled and this thing took off into the air and took off toward North Avenue This thing freaked us all out and scared all our kids.”

The third report occurred at 2 a.m. on April 16, 2017.

“I arrived for work at 2 a.m. at the Chicago International Produce Market just off Damen and as I walked across the parking lot a bunch of guys (4-5 guys) were staring up at the sky,” the witness stated. “I looked up and saw the biggest freaking owl I have ever seen! I’m 6-foot, 2-inches, and I’m guessing this thing was at least a foot taller than me. It was completely black except for it having bright yellowish/reddish eyes like a cat.”
The witness described the creature.

“It stood there for a minute or two staring at everyone before shooting up into the sky and disappearing. It made everyone feel very uneasy and only took off after some guys threw some rocks at it.

It had wings on it like an owl, only bigger and you could hear it flap those wings when it took off. It made this sound as it took off and flew away that sounded like a truck’s brakes when they are burned out. It flew up and flew a wide circle, making that sound once more and then flew off in the direction of the Stevenson Expressway. We stood around and looked for it for a few minutes, but it never came back. I’m reporting this because there is no way this was an owl. It stood upright like a man, just really, really tall. I don’t want to discuss this with anyone and would prefer to remain anonymous. I don’t imagine anyone would believe me anyways.

“ One of the guys I work with who saw this thing said that it made him feel very uneasy, like a scared kid, and he was glad someone threw a rock and made it fly away.”

There have been many movies made about Mothman—many are fiction based on reality; however, a small independent film company called Small Town Monsters has created a definitive picture of the 13 months that Mothman haunted Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

The feature-length documentary will delve into not just the unusual happenings in the area but also the history of the small town and how it was impacted by the creature sightings. It also profiles the tragic Silver Bridge collapse; an event that claimed the lives of 46 people and brought the Mothman story to a close.

The film makes a believer out of you – the surviving witness testimony is unimpeachable.

Sightings of cryptids or unknown creatures have been a matter of record for hundreds of years. Now it seems that there is an increase of sightings of unexplained creatures; some of which are not typical or even comparable to creatures on earth.

A clear image of a “Ropen” a creature that looks like a winged pterodactyl was shot in Yantai City, Shandong Province, China. Other sightings were reported in Boise, Ohio, Canada, North Carolina and New Guinea.

Are the sightings of these creatures a result of exotic physics or exotic imaginations?

History, albeit biblical and random, have produced some remarkable stories, and now it appears to be producing remarkable documented sightings as well.
