I have been a B movie buff my entire life. I published a B-movie fanzine in Salt Lake City, and for three years I spent a therapeutic journey re-living my childhood watching B-movies and showing them at an old coffee house in the hipster area on the west side of town.
I realize that I can't change a lot of things that I do, and so I find myself again at a small coffee shop/deli in the west side of Portland conjuring some B-movie philosophy and applying it to the recent shooting at Virginia Tech University.
The B-movie that I wish to submit for your approval, coining a phrase from Rod Serling, is the remarkable "Forbidden Planet", starring Leslie Nielsen, Walter Pidgeon and Anne Francis. Apart from introducing Robbie the Robot, the movie drew a lesson from the idea of virtual reality and postmodernism, then unknown but more recently explored by the late Jean Baudrillard.
The science fiction classic acquaints us with a mysterious race that lived on the planet Altair IV called the Krell. Their history is recounted by the character of Dr. Edward Morbius played by Walter Pidgeon.
Ethically, as well as technologically,
they were a million years ahead of humankind.
For, in unlocking the mysteries of nature,
they had conquered even their baser-selves.
And, when in the course of eons,
they had abolished sickness and insanity
and crime and all injustice,
they turned, still with high benevolence,
outward toward space.
Long before the dawn of man's history,
they had walked our planet,
and brought back many biological specimens.
The heights they had reached!
But then--- seemingly on the threshold
of some supreme accomplishment
which was to have crowned their entire history--
this all-but-divine race perished,
in a single night.
In the two thousand centuries
since that unexplained catastrophe,
even their cloud-piercing towers
of glass and porcelain and adamantine steel
have crumbled back into the soil of Altair IV,
and nothing, absolutely nothing,
remains above ground.
We learn that the Krell invented a "brain booster" of sorts that reacted to the electromagnetic impulses of individual Krell brains. The booster was called the Morbius machine, and its unique function was to instantaneously project solid matter to any point on the planet. In other words, if the Krell were to think of something, it would eventually materialize.
Creation by pure thought.
There was, however, a catch to this remarkable invention. They did not take into account that the machine could also materialize the nightmares of the Krell. The machine eventually created monsters from the id.
The monsters eventually caused the Krell to annihilate themselves.
Now I am sure that many people will immediately surmise that the whole story of "Forbidden Planet" was grounded in the fear of "the bomb" and how the technology could wipe out our civilization.
I saw it as a far deeper metaphor for the use of technological terror as a means of control, of taking the nightmare and magnifying it electronically for the purpose of destruction.
We are now becoming better at creating alternative realities and simulating reality so that it is more enhanced and melodramatic.
We live in the age of the authenticated fake. Hyperreality limits perception to what flickers on the big screen, what manipulates us on the small screen and what overstimulates us in the alternative realities brought to us by video gaming and recreational drug use.
Over the years we have relinquished our cognitive liberty and have unwittingly handed it over to a "master control" or Morbius apparatus known as the television.
If we remotely trip through the virtual reality known as "programming" we see that the majority of mental intake is violent and nightmarish. The Monsters of the ID have somehow entered the collective consciousness and we begin to wonder if our fate is sealed in the lines and pixels of virtual reality.
Is the Krell syndrome a mental control that is unwittingly creeping into our reality or is it by design?
In 1998 I was having a conversation about mind control with some friends of mine, and a gentleman who looked like a transient overheard it.
He mumbled through some conversation about how he was on his way to Texas and that he needed some money. He told me that if I paid him a bus ticket he would tell me about how the Canadian government had taken him as a child and trained him with the CIA to become an assassin. He claimed, however, that it wasn't typical assassination.
He claimed that the weapon that would be used would be the mind.
He told me that through the use of mind control and such things as remote viewing, a man could kill another man. He wanted to tell me about some things that were done in Iran and he claimed that he was under orders from both the Canadian government and The U.S. Government.
He also told me that he was involved in some sort of mind control experiment in Montreal in the 1950's and that after he had tried to reveal the activities he ended up destitute and traveled all over the country by train, or hitchhiking.
After checking around and asking several questions of people I knew in Canada, I can only remember that his name did not check out and that perhaps I had been hoaxed.
I was later made aware of a lawsuit that was filed by a man named Robert Logie. Logie climbed that he was a "human guinea pig" for a CIA drug experiment program called MKULTRA Sub Project 68, an experimental program in which LSD was used for behavior control and brainwashing. Logie recounted that there was an agency called the Society for the Investigation of Human Ecology and that it was a front for the project. Logie would walk around in a daze and slept under bridges not knowing where he was or who he was.
The man I met was not Logie, but his story sounded similar.
I had read stories about mind control experiments, especially MKULTRA, in which some of America's most heinous experiments took place.
These mind control experiments have been talked about for decades. The stories are usually told by credible individuals, as well as a few conspiracy theorists out to make a dollar.
Astronaut Gordon Cooper spoke out about these experiments when he appeared on Art Bell's "Coast to Coast AM".
He claimed that NASA used children in experiments in the 1950's and 1960's. He described how NASA's mind control program emphasized cultivation of the children's psychic abilities and that it involved telepathy, remote viewing, and out-of-body-experiences.
It seems that in the 1950's there were several of these nefarious programs similar to MKULTRA, all with different titles. Some of these were Project Monarch, Artichoke, and Paperclip.
The question that everyone asks is: what was the purpose of such groups and why was experimentation with human guinea pigs necessary?
In order to understand MKULTRA it is necessary to go back in history to where all of the fascination with such experiments began.
It all can be traced to World War II.
Nazis used drugs to conduct experiments on the prisoners of Dachau and other death camps.
They would learn that when mescaline and other psychedelics were administered to the prisoners, they would reveal secrets, not to mention taste sounds and hear colors.
They were also very susceptible to mind control and manipulation.
The U.S. Army was able to use marijuana and barbiturates as aids in interrogation during the war. Hypnosis was also used as an important tool in creating multiple personalities in subjects that were selected for experiments.
This was all done in the name of intelligence and national security.
After the Korean War, the CIA started the MKULTRA program as a top-secret effort to find the best techniques available to alter the mind and render their test subjects open for all kinds of suggestion to suit their needs.
There were experiments that were carried out with all the typical psychedelics and of course LSD, Ketamine, psilocybin, and psycho-surgical procedures that included electroimplantation and lobotomy.
There were several other, more barbaric tests done on subjects, including mixtures of electroshock therapies, LSD, and repetitive voice looping in which the subject would say things into a tape recorder and then have their own voice played back to them over and over while in a drug-induced trance.
Scientists employed by the CIA were of the opinion that drugs such as LSD could reprogram the human personality.
One purpose was to turn people into automatons. Another purpose was to attempt to destroy the youth movement by rendering its participants apathetic and susceptible to suggestions given to them by a controlling entity.
Movies such as the "Manchurian Candidate" and "Conspiracy Theory", and television programs like "Pretender", explore the intent to train assassins and murderers to carry out agendas in some clandestine diabolical plot.
As the turbulent 60's overlapped into the 70's, political assassinations were responsible for changing the course of the history of the United States. The culprits whom people have pointed to in the news have often been described as "lone nuts" or "loners" who nevertheless seemed harmless.
Times have changed, and it seems the simple loner is now the outcast who has an ax to grind and winds up shooting up a shopping mall or a school.
In the dark underbelly of the conspiracy theory community, it would seem that every tragedy can be explained away by saying that government is responsible, or that some nefarious group has declared war on our way of life, thus creating an overall feeling of antagonism amongst the populace.
I am beginning to wonder if it is true that everything is by design, that the powerful controllers of our lives play with us like toys and manipulate us with our own beliefs and delusions of what is lurking out there to swallow us up and spit us out.
Even in the case of simulated play, such as in video games, the reaction is very real. As it has been said, "perception is reality"; an event means nothing unless it can be seen by the masses in order to generate a reaction.
The truth as I see it is that in the 21st century we are all being programmed to kill, and it doesn't seem to take much to trigger a programmed response.
When we analyze acts of violence, assassinations and attempted assassinations, homicides, and the covert activities of America's intelligence community aimed at American citizens, we see a mountain of potential evidence that mind-control experiments conducted in the 1950's, allegedly still continued today, might be producing mentally programmed assassins.
It seems that the purpose of these activities is to create an agreed-upon threat so that agencies or dedicated groups within our government can use propaganda on its own people to confuse them, promote negative sentiment toward groups that they deem subversive, or get laws passed to limit personal freedoms.
Now that we have established a motive, let us look back eight years to the events at Columbine High School and the bloody rampage that took the lives of 13 people.
Since the Columbine tragedy, the media and groups with agendas against gun control and strict policies in schools have used the tragedy as the cornerstone in their fight to rally hysteria.
The trigger phrase "Columbine style event" was used to describe all copycat events that took place after the shootings took place. Witch hunts ensued against people with "alternative" means of expressing themselves. Those under fire included "goths", video game players, heavy metal fans and performers like Marilyn Manson.
As with all such events, the hysteria dies down. But as most people go about their business, others watch and wait for the next time a massacre takes place -- one that will break records, increase the terror level, and unleash the nightmare Monsters of the ID that will come out of their dark holes and kill a targeted group of people.
The Columbine case joins Oklahoma City, the Unabomber, Heaven's Gate, assassinations and attempted assassinations of presidents, John Lennon's murder, the kidnapping and subversion of Patty Hearst by the Symbionese Liberation Army, the Jonestown massacre, and the Manson Family bearing suggested connections to the CIA and other nefarious government programs.
They fuel speculation that the CIA has successfully achieved mind control.
While MKULTRA allegedly ceased operations in 1973, it is suspected that new forms of mental control were discovered and implemented as late as 1995. A residual effect allegedly exists, resulting in the victims of these abuses moving among us, unaware of what they are.
The timeline coincidentally demonstrates that before we ever heard of people such as Lee Harvey Oswald, Sirhan Sirhan, Charles Manson, Mark David Chapman, John Hinckley Jr., Jim Jones, the Unabomber, Timothy McVeigh, Marshall Applewhite, and the "Trenchcoat Mafia", tests were conducted on individuals, who were unaware of the eventual effects of what was happening to them.
All of this gives us a reason to stop and contemplate the increasing number of incidents taking place recently in which irrational behavior has led to deaths of innocent people.
A few weeks ago I was thumbing through the newspaper, and read an article stating that the American way of life is diminishing by degrees. It said that many people do not find satisfaction in their day-to-day routines. It appears to me that perhaps the reason more people are becoming dissatisfied with their lives is because they have allowed themselves to believe is some artificial hyperreality.
Today it is difficult for some people to realize that they are just "average."
They are constantly being told that they are too fat, too thin, too ugly, too stressed, too poor, and failing to measure up to some unattainable standard that has been agreed upon by the consensus reality.
The frightening result of all of this is that it seems that the Morbius device called television "programming" may be the very thing that has set this hyper-realistic standard, this authenticated fake world.
All of the programming and stimuli that we receive from the media and other resources like movies, video games and recreational drug use could result in a mass psychosis.
In America we are no longer satisfied with the simple life. We tend to invite unnecessary drama into our lives. Rites of passage seem to be dissolving and that there is some strange sense of entitlement that tells us that we should have everything we want now. The end of our journey never comes quickly enough.
Our character, virtue, and values have given way to image, street cred, bling, and a culture of exclusivity, creating cliques and protective groups that leave some people disenfranchised and isolated.
It is a destructive group dynamic that breeds hate and resentment. It simmers for long periods of time, eventually coming to a boil in killers who allegedly "just snap."
The idea of a killer "just snapping" is becoming more of a myth than a reality.
How obsessed have we become with celebrity and even being famous? Look at television "reality" shows in which normal people perform abnormal acts of humiliation for a reward of money and fame. In the experiment known as the reality show, we have a group of voluntarily captive rats fighting for the cheese.
In the real world, those who don't get the cheese learn that in order to get it they must act out, even if the only reward is their infamy.
As we creep through the hyperreality that is our lives, there are some who can't be rich, beautiful, famous or chic. They may not know how to jump high enough, or sing well enough, or punch hard enough, but, with the right programming and training, they can shoot straight enough and kill people dead enough.
Prior to the shooting at Virginia Tech University, there was a lone gunman shooting in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the historic Trolley Square Mall. The comparisons that can be made between the two are very interesting.
Sulejman Talovic, who was responsible for the Trolley Square Mall killings, was an 18-year-old Bosnian Muslim refugee. He wore a trench coat and a backpack full of ammunition. He carried a shotgun and a .38 caliber pistol. Talovic, showing no emotion, fired at mall patrons, getting off at least 50 shots and killing 5 before he was shot by an off-duty police officer. The shooting was caught on an amateur video but all that was heard was gunfire and shouting.
The shooter's father, Suljo Talovic, told the local television station KSL TV that he believed his son was a victim of a highly organized mind control project.
"Somebody give him gun or were maybe training him or tell him to shoot somebody I think maybe hundred percent that someone was behind him maybe other guys who give him gun had a plan for something"-- Suljo Talovic to KSL television
John Gibson of Fox News suggested that Talovic repeatedly shouted "Allah Akbar" prior to his death, suggesting a religious motive.
However, police deny this.
"You know, the only claims that we have heard of that are coming from Fox News, and we have had several other news stations look at the video and the audio from that, as well as some of our experts here in town have gone through that, and we don't see it - nor does anyone else but Fox News."-- Salt Lake City Police Chief Chris Burbank
So is Fox News intentionally creating a false reality or an "authentic fake" story of Muslim outrage?
In another coincidence, just a week before the shooting in Salt Lake, Bill Dedman, a Pulitzer Prize winner, wrote an article for MSNBC called "10 Myths About School Shootings" that details a number of myths surrounding shooters of any kind:
Myth No. 1. "He didn't fit the profile."
Myth No. 2. "He just snapped."
Myth No. 3. "No one knew."
Myth No. 4. "He hadn't threatened anyone."
Myth No. 5. "He was a loner."
Myth No. 6. "He was crazy."
Myth No. 7. "If only we'd had a SWAT team or metal detectors."
Myth No. 8. "He'd never touched a gun."
Myth No. 9. "We did everything we could to help him."
Myth No. 10. "School violence is rampant."
Was it coincidence or a trigger? I cannot find such a detailed article in the mainstream media about psycho lone nut killers since one in October of 2006, also written by Dedman, also for MSNBC.
Cho Seung Hui sent his manifesto to NBC.
He was said to be a troubled loner who was accused of stalking women.
He railed against the rich, the good-looking, the exclusive entitlement culture.
His classmates said he was socially inept, a poor communicator and speaker of English. But again, though he couldn't conform well enough, he killed quite well. In fact, his kill rate was amazing. He was able to calmly discharge 30 or so rounds within a minute and a half, more than two-thirds of them finding fatal marks.
Here are the similarities between Cho and the Salt Lake City shooter:
He was a childhood immigrant into the country.
On his rampage, he carried two weapons and a backpack filled with ammunition.
Both were said to have worn special uniforms.
Both were said to have shot without emotion.
In each case, there is a nebulous tie to Islam: the alleged shouting of "Allah Akbar" by Talovic, the words "Ismail Ax" written on Cho's arm.
There is one more possible similarity. Talovic's father claimed that his son had been mind-controlled. Could Cho have been mind-controlled as well?
Let's connect some dots.
Cho Sun-Kyung, the sister of Cho Seung Hui, works as a contractor for a State Department office that oversees American aid for Iraq. The Iraq Reconstruction Management Office was established by President Bush and John Negroponte.
Negroponte has a record for being a ringleader for torture and abuse. He was appointed as National Intelligence director and ambassador to Iraq.
From 1971 to 1973, Negroponte was the officer-in charge for Vietnam at the National Security Council under another war criminal, Henry Kissinger. During that period, former DEA member Michael Levine was conducting undercover operations in Saigon, Thailand, and Cambodia, where our government was smuggling heroin into the U.S. It was our government that was using soldiers' caskets and body bags of those "Killed In Action" to smuggle in the heroin.
From 1981-1985, Negroponte was U.S. Ambassador to Honduras, where he illegally assisted the contra war and, most devastating, helped the Reagan administration in conveniently "disappearing" and "suiciding" close to 300 political opponents utilizing the death squads in order to carry out these human rights violations.
He supervised the creation of the El Aguacate air base, which the Contras used as a secret detention and torture center. Negroponte ignored these political killings. He orchestrated the famous death squad Battalion 316, which used shock and suffocation devices in interrogations. Prisoners were often kept naked, and, when no longer useful, killed and buried in unmarked graves.
I learned of these crimes and the horror that is John Negroponte from Andres Contreris, who appeared on Ground Zero during the time of the Abu Graib Tortures and the psy-op involving programmed dupe Lynndi England. Contreris was the co director of the film, Hidden In Plain Sight, which is about the School of the Americas an American Sponsored Terrorist operation in Ft. Benning, Georgia. The School of the Americas is well known for training and programming terrorists and produced such war lords like Manuel Noriega from Panama and Argentina's Leopoldo Galtieri.
Contreris was the person who, when John Negroponte was going through his confirmation hearings as U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, stood up in the hearing room and protested. His stories about Negroponte and his role in the programming of soldiers for the purpose of rape, torture and blood lust of course has it's ties to The School of the Americas, and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. An even deeper coincidence has the , Negroponte's son, Nicholas, working at MIT where thought control, or "Biocybernetics", has been seriously studied and experimented with by the American military since 1970.
Jaron Lanier, the pioneer of virtual reality, has said that that the telecommunications satellites that hover above us in space, are not just about telecommunications, electromagnetic flux, remote sensing, weather and planetary conditions; they are about the potential to transform human unconsciousness and human consciousness through Biocybernetics. Literally programming us and inducing certain realities into our mental perception.
The electromagnetic spectrum is open wide for tinkering and the mind is electric; all you have to do is tweak the frequency and you may see all kinds of weird anomalies taking place. If we employ the idea of a Morbius device ala "The Krell" we see the monster of the id come to surface.
"This is what we want: infinite public and private bandwidths; instant telecommunication whenever to wherever to whomever; instant access to alternative realities; exact sensory feedback of "experiences;" the illusion of telepathy; interactive environments; and, the direct connection of our nervous systems to the global computer.
While it was the American Military which funded the first computer and the Defense Department's Advance Research Projects Agency (DARPA) which created the enabling technologies for the development of personal computers, it was really public appetite for manufactured experience which drove the development of television, video and video games.
And it is public appetite which drives the development of VR. Such research and development has moved away from the military to the universities and private corporations. "- Quote from Jaran Lanier taken from the Article Post Symbolic Mind control by F. Scott Taylor
We have been hearing about Cho's involvement with video games. We have also heard that the CIA and DARPA have been known to recruit guinea pigs from Virginia Tech, a practice protested by students.
Blacksburg, VA houses a top secret US government underground facility that develops, in conjunction with DARPA, weapons such as human robotic mind control programming. This work is similar to experiments being done at MIT using electrochip implantation, creating the illusion of mind reading, superhuman strength and mind controlled human battle robots.
A lot of Virginia Tech students eventually work for DARPA, the CIA and NASA.
Of course, all of this secret and not-so-secret activity on the Virginia Tech campus is not definitive evidence that Cho Seung Hui was a government-produced mind-control assassin. However, it does indicate Virginia Technical University serves as a hub for experimental and prototype Department of Defense technologies and experimentation.
His abilities as a gunman are uncanny especially for a guy who timidly bought his guns a month before the incident.
According to Washington Post Staff Writer David Cho, several Korean youths who knew Cho Seung Hui from his high school days said he was a fan of violent video games, particularly a game called "Counterstrike," a hugely popular online game in which players join terrorism or counter terrorism groups and try to shoot each other using all types of weapons.
Charles Mesloh, Professor of Criminology at Florida Gulf Coast University, told NBC News that he was shocked Cho could have killed 32 people with two handguns absent expert training.
Was Cho involved with some simulated combat training developed by the DoD?
Even if we rule out the possibility that Cho had received expert firearms training, could he have been trained by video game simulation? Could childhood abuse, a theme rampant in his writings, or the drugs, deprivation techniques and other methods of mind control we know the CIA has used, released a Monster of the ID that directly contributed to the carnage?
Very interesting.
He talks about his "brothers and sisters" in his video, yet we know that he has no brothers and only one sister. Who is he talking about? Perhaps other people who underwent mind control beside him?
And incidentally, once again, like the Salt Lake mall shooting, amateur video caught the sounds of gunfire, and the person who recorded it was paid an undisclosed sum of money to allow the footage to be shown on TV.
But there was a suspicious turn of events concerning Cho's electronic manifesto. The principal mass media outlets, so eager to advance their own presence by excerpting it for the first 24 hours, suddenly decided, almost as one, to remove the material they had been airing. (In addition, a picture of Cho wearing military camouflage mysteriously disappeared from Wikipedia.) They claim that this is due to a "backlash" that condemned the broadcasting as sensationalism and as an unfair advantage for Cho, fulfilling his wish to have his words told to the world. (This is despite the fact that Cho, being quite dead, isn't benefiting from much of anything anymore.)
Remember, if the public doesn't see it, it really didn't happen, right? The controllers of information hope that inconvenient inconsistencies just end up in the memory hole like everything else.
The whole circus is quite different from the Littleton, Colorado courts having suppressed the Columbine "basement tapes" made by Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris for the same purpose. At least we assume that it was the shooters' purpose; since the tapes have never been released, we don't know.
So what has changed? What made that first day of repeated, almost gratuitous airing of Cho's recordings and photos acceptable to the networks?
Again, very interesting.
This is just conspiracy theory and theories aren't facts. They are simply nightmares that someone creates on a blog. More nightmares to unleash another Monster of the ID.
Wait a moment. Didn't a guy at NASA just shoot another man and then himself?
The mind wanders.
