There are many people who are afraid of anything paranormal. They are afraid they are surrendering their souls to Satan if they even come in contact with anything that even appears to be like conjuring, summoning, or contacting the dead.

When there is already a presence established and that it is becoming nascence, you can either run from it or go beyond the supernatural barrier and try to contact it on a more scientific level.

Spiritualism and contacting the dead was considered a healthy and normal practice in the 19th century. It was actually encouraged by some of the clergy to give closure to those who were grieving loved ones after the Civil War.

Today, it is now being argued that it is akin to demon worship. This point is usually argued by the same people who think that Trick or Treating is akin to demon worship. The very thought of Halloween being a spiritual day, or a day set aside to allow contact or thoughts of the dead will conjure extreme responses on all sides of the argument, with very little middle ground.

The truth about spiritualism is that it is as American as apple pie. It is even more American and was even more fashionable in the United Sates than it was in Europe in the late 19th century.

Spiritualism, which had been around for years in Europe, hit America hard in 1848 with the sudden prominence of the Fox sisters of upstate New York; the Foxes claimed to receive messages from spirits who rapped on the walls in answer to questions, recreating this feat of channeling in parlors across the state.

Aided by the stories about the celebrity sisters and other spiritualists in the new national press, spiritualism reached millions of adherents at its peak in the second half of the 19th century. Spiritualism worked for Americans: it was compatible with Christian dogma, meaning one could hold a séance on Saturday night and have no qualms about going to church the next day. It was an acceptable, even wholesome activity to contact spirits at séances, through automatic writing, or table turning parties, in which participants would place their hands on a small table and watch it begin shake and rattle, while they all declared that they weren’t moving it.

The movement also offered solace in an era when the average lifespan was less than 50: Women died in childbirth; children died of disease; and men died in war. Even Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of the venerable president, conducted séances in the White House after their 11-year-old son died of a fever in 1862; during the Civil War, spiritualism gained adherents in droves, people desperate to connect with loved ones who’d gone away to war and never come home.

Even the great inventor Thomas Edison believed there had to be a more sophisticated method of contacting spirits, as he actually hated the spiritualist of his day and theorized there must be a scientific way of contacting beings from beyond.

Thomas Edison wanted to contact the dead using a lot of the knowledge he appropriated from others that used resonant frequency, radio telephone transmission, electric power and light. The Electric Ouija Machine and Psycho-phone seemed to be a combination of several technologies that when used with powerful transmitting devices would open a portal in the ether which would make it possible for the dead to speak with the living.

On September 7th, 1897, Edison patented his spirit communication machine with the US patent office. There are many websites that suggest that Edison’s vision of communicating with the dead was all an urban legend and yet there were ads that were placed in the Saturday Evening Post advertising a marvelous contraption that allegedly could communicate with the dead.

General Electric also talks about Edison’s devices on its website and how the spirit machine was a national sensation after World War I.

In 1920, Americans were still reeling from the horrific casualties of World War I. Meanwhile, spiritualism, Ouija boards, and the slew of new technological inventions from men like Thomas Edison were capturing the national zeitgeist. All these converged when Edison told American Magazine that he was working on a device known as a “spirit phone” — in other words, a phone that would let the living communicate with the dead.

The result was a national craze. Most of the major newspapers and magazines in the country leapt to cover this astounding new “invention.” And the magazine that broke the story received over 600 letters to the editor from people obsessed with the device.

These letters range from offers of help with the design to claims that such a machine already existed — and at least one gentleman wrote to ask how he could place a call once he reached the afterlife, since he expected to die shortly. It needs to be addressed that Edison by this time had already invented the phonograph which was an invention that could play back the voices of the dead. Radios were also able to play the voices of dead souls for the living’s enjoyment so the logical next step was to contact the dead using several of the ideas that he had patented.

Now computers can play voices of dead people as well. It was a concept that now would be taken for granted but back in the 1920’s people hearing the voices of the dead played for them on a box and a rolled tube was phenomenal.

In the Book of Numbers we read of how Moses would speak to God using The Ark of the Covenant. The voice of God or an entity from beyond would speak above the head of Moses just between the two terminals that were made of gold and shaped like cherubim.

Now in commentary by biblical scholars we read that the voice of a person was heard in the tabernacle speaking to Moses from the Ark of the testimony. Therefore it can be surmised that the Ark was used to communicate with God or with spirits that were not in the room. The Mercy seat as mentioned in the bible and located in the Ark was also known as “The Oracle.”

The Oracle seemed to be a stone or from what I can determine to be a magnetized stone. There were gold plates that were positively and negatively charged in order to produce a great deal of electrical power. The power was so great that it killed Uzzah, a character in the Bible that attempted to steal it. He touched the Ark and it killed him instantly.

It is proposed that a powerful charge was used to create a resonant frequency to communicate. The Book of Samuel even states that Samuel and Eli would speak to the Ark and communicate with beings. All those who officiated near the Ark had to wear protective clothing and head coverings to prevent their hair from falling out and their skin to get boils. Sometimes there was a great cloud that formed over the Ark and Moses was instructed not to go near the Ark when it had this cloud near it.

The Ark was a powerful transmitter and probably generated the same amount of power as a Tesla coil, which is literally a lightning generator. Theoretically when Tesla fired the lighting off of his experimental coils, he was attempting to create a Vortex capable of thinning the veil to another dimension.

There are set ideas and templates that are programmed into the collective consciousness which determine whether or not there is an entity in our midst. Those ideas about the supernatural are given to us through mythology, a cadre of witnesses, and word of mouth. There are also depictions of entity experiences that are augmented with dark music, and thunderings on a movie screen using special effects.

The Hollywood version of entity encounters has had to be made over, just as the actors and actresses starring in them, in order for it to properly terrorize a ticket-paying audience. The real-life entity experience is as natural and mundane as the wind blowing through the trees.

In fact, most entities, when called upon to make their presence known to the living are quite acquiescent. They are beneficial; they intervene, and sometimes warn of danger, or appear to give comfort.

But don’t get me wrong; when a spiritual entity manifests, it can be a very traumatic experience for some, and many will determine that the experience itself is from the realms of the abyss.

It is the so-called evil entity that is peculiar.

If we are to understand the paranormal, we need to understand that most entities act as a collective. You may have heard of something called a “legion.” Most Christians know of the story of the demon-possessed man that Christ encountered.

When Jesus asked the name of the demon, the demon replied, “My name is Legion for we are many.”

Sometimes when a sighting appears out of nowhere, we are surprised and we hear claims of a haunting by something that is a singular entity. What most people fail to realize is that the one appearance may be the tip of the supernatural iceberg.

Each entity within the collective will choose to appear or make its presence known to a certain individual because, at the time of the appearance, his or her circumstances made them open to the contact. This would explain why many people have had encounters with the spirits of dead loved ones who have recently passed away.

If an entity appears to you and you sense that it is evil, or troublesome, it may be that it has found a weakness in your subconscious. It will use whatever means necessary to fuel its power. This can include digging deep and uprooting some buried negative thought form.

Entities manipulate through the power of suggestion.

It seems that in most cases of paranormal activity the destructive entities get most of the press.

You can call them phantoms, dark entities, astral vampires, or night intruders it all applies because your individual belief system will fill in the blurry lines and the image you see will be familiar to your individual beliefs.

The veil is somehow becoming thinner.

We are now seeing the beings that probably exist simultaneously on this planet. Perhaps they dwell on another frequency or dimension. We are learning that bursts of energy in a contained place can open a vortex, or wormhole into another dimension. These are the experiments that the Department of Energy has admitted to conducting in small colliders all over the world.

The big tests are carried out at the large Hadron collider at CERN. There it is rumored that smaller wormholes open and before they collapse scientists are getting a glimpse into the multiverse.

At the moment, it is only speculation but throughout time, scientists have always wondered if there is a way to contact entities using powerful electrical current.

All of the magicians who tried to open doorways in the past used both scientific and spiritual methods to seek out the entities of the outer most reached of our existence.

These magicians wanted to try and prove that intent during prayer and supplication can alter the magnetic field around you. They were attempting to demonstrate that the process of death and spirit ascension can be tied to releasing electromagnetic force and that it escapes into the ether. So it is not that far of a logical leap to theorize that upon death, we release an electromagnetic force that shows intelligence – intelligent force that can respond to outside manipulation.

The power to speak with discarnate beings, or even asking them to appear has been spoken of in all histories and texts for centuries. Magicians, preachers, popes and prophets all claim to have been influenced by spirits. Some claim the ability of automatic writing and scrying.

These abilities are said to be gifts of the spirit. However I have always experimented with the idea that ghost activity can be created and repeated in heavy electromagnetic fields.

In some haunted locations, researchers have measured magnetic fields that are stronger than normal or which exhibit unusual fluctuations. These may be localized phenomena that stem from electronic equipment or geological formations, or they may be part of the Earth’s magnetic field.

Some paranormal investigators think of this as proof of a supernatural presence the ghosts create the field. Others suggest these fields can interact with the human brain, causing hallucinations, dizziness or other neurological symptoms.

Some researchers have theorized this is one of the reasons people report more ghostly activity at night. Because of the way the solar wind interacts with the Earth’s magnetosphere, the planet’s magnetic field stretches out on the side that’s in darkness. Some researchers hypothesize that this expanded field interacts more strongly with people’s brains.

Either way, if serious science was to tell the truth about their heavy load electrical filed experiments and activity in other dimensions, perhaps we wouldn’t have to use rudimentary materials to prove the existence of ghosts.
