It was just before Christmas when I caught a story out of Russia confirming a strange story that I had previously written off as an elaborate hoax. The state radio broadcast of 'The Voice of Russia' made a strange announcement about a KGB secret file that was declassified. The file was regarding a UFO incident that took place in 1969 and was the subject of an elaborate TNT network special that was hosted by Roger Moore.
In 1998, the television program 'The Secret KGB UFO Files,' purported to show startling film segments of a crashed saucer surrounded by Russian soldiers, as well as footage of what appeared to be an autopsy of an alleged alien torso and an apparent dead alien.
Skeptics pored over the footage and concluded that it was a well-produced fake for TNT. A lot of what was shown were allegedly reenactments and not 'black market' footage as first reported.
One of the biggest debunkers of the incident was James Oberg who is well-known for being a debunker of anything alien and/or UFO.
While it may be that the television show had produced very convincing footage - to the point of not being believed - the Voice of Russia, which currently broadcasts to 109 million listeners in 160 countries and is considered one of the top five radio broadcasters in the world, is now circulating the story as fact.
In 1969, in the state of Sverdlovsky, a UFO was reported to have crashed and was recovered by the Russian military. "There was film that allegedly showed the recovery of a saucer. There was one dead alien found in the craft. The remains of the alien and the UFO debris were taken to a secure Russian site, where the saucer was analyzed, and an autopsy was done on the alien."
The Huffington Post wrote: "The Voice of Russia also includes references to unconfirmed reports that a UFO crashed or was shot down near the city of Prohlandnyi, in the USSR on Aug. 10, 1989. Like the previous story, this one included alleged alien bodies."
I sat on this story throughout the holiday wondering if there would come a time when it would become more relevant.
The Huffington Post and several other mainstream outlets jumped on to the story and placed it in its “odd file,” only to be forgotten or doubted.
I was puzzled as to why this story has returned and why it has now received the blessing of the “state radio” of Russia as being real and that Russia now is beginning to loosen its intelligence on UFO’s and contact with alien civilizations.
The U.S. media has taken a loathing of UFO stories and hasn’t paid much attention to them. It is as if UFO - and possible alien related stories - have now been placed into the category of 'hoax' until proven otherwise, which has placed UFO observation in the same category as having imaginary friends.
The fact is, UFO stories are ubiquitous and not just relics of the Cold War. The problem with any UFO story that is generated now is the tendency of the court of public opinion to assume that all UFO reports are about aliens and or other new age free energy topics which create a schism where scientists wish to stay clear of.
It can also be said that Russian and American UFOlogy has been compromised because it is difficult to ascertain which UFO reports are the product of secret Soviet and American space and military experiments.
However, it is my opinion that this is what makes UFOlogy fascinating. As more documents become declassified, it is quite telling as to what can be identified and what seems to be considered unexplained.
The more we are exposed to the declassification of some documents from the KGB and other government intelligence agencies, the more we realize that most governments are now - or have been aware for some time - that extra-terrestrial craft have either shown up here on Earth or have been observed and have crashed.
It should be noted that Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev remarked in 2012, that, as Collective-Evolution.com wrote, "the president receives classified information on extraterrestrials visiting the planet at the beginning of his term."
It is also important to remember the conversation former United States president Ronald Reagan had with Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev in Geneva about the possible threat of extra-terrestrials in the near future.
In the 1988 article, 'Ronald Reagan's Obsession With An Alien Invasion', A. Hovni wrote that, "Gorbachev himself confirmed the conversation in Geneva during an important speech on February 17, 1987, in the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow, to the Central Committee of the USSR's Communist Party."
Gorbachev stated, "At our meeting in Geneva, the U.S. President said that if the earth faced an invasion by extra-terrestrials, the United States and the Soviet Union would join forces to repel such an invasion. I shall not dispute the hypothesis, though I think it's early yet to worry about such an intrusion..."
It is interesting to point out that Gorbachev never spoke of how weird the conversation was; he only commented that it may be too early to talk about such an event as an alien invasion. Did this indicate that perhaps there is a date when it would be more appropriate to discuss these things? Or have the governments of the world been planning on a date where they announce to the world that 'life is out there in space' - or have they been planning on a date where they would stage an alien invasion?
This would further the argument that UFOlogists have spoken of for a long time and that is a “black budget” that is set aside for a the very real threats from space and that includes the possibility of hostile alien species.
There is always a debate as to whether or not an extraterrestrial threat is real or that the government is capable of manufacturing a worldwide hoax in order to secure the establishment of a one world power.
Ronald Reagan had expressed that the differences of the planet would be neutralized if it were revealed that world threat existed and that the threat would be extra terrestrial.
Last August, Edward Snowden blew the whistle on the surveillance state, but he also disclosed some other interesting things with regard to black budgets that are set aside for unknown reasons.
Many have speculated that these budgets are for aviation and space vehicles for defense.
When Snowden sought asylum in Venezuela, he actually spoke about UFO’s and allegedly said, "As it turns out, the most credible and inexplicable sightings are of vehicles which have been spotted leaving the sea floor at hydrothermal vents and directly entering solar orbit."
This would make the argument that what we are dealing with are ultra-terrestrial vehicles that are capable of hiding in the ocean and in space.
Again, Collective-Evolution.com writes, "Former National Minister of Defence for Canada, Paul Hellyer alluded to trillions of dollars going into black budget projects in which congress and the president are deliberately kept in the dark. The secret seems to be exploding out even more as we head towards 2014."
You may remember that during a Ground Zero broadcast, our program was cut off after a listener phoned in to speak about Hellyer’s comments during the Citizen hearing on disclosure about an alien group called “The Tall Whites.”
Tall, frail beings are allegedly involved with government decisions according to Hellyer and according to him there are some that were seen at a base in Nevada.
While the “tall whites” maybe considered a tall tale by some, the reality is that while we discussed the issue on the air, our satellite hookup was shut down during our “Mortgiest” broadcast and immediately a back-up show was broadcast in its place.
Meanwhile, the UFO-themed stories were suddenly becoming mainstream as ABC reported a UFO flap over California and the United Kingdom reported a UFO the size of a rugby ball buzzed a commercial aircraft over Heathrow Airport.
Peter Davenport, who is the director of the National UFO Reporting Center, says that there has been a lot of UFO sightings lately. He stated to me that he took about a month’s worth of UFO sightings in one night.
Federal authorities have stated that there has been no unusual flight activity in California; however, a rash of UFO reports beginning the morning of New Year ’s Day from Sacramento to Auburn.
Meanwhile, the UK reports a near miss with an A320 aircraft at 34,000 feet back in July. The pilot told investigators that the object passed within a few feet of the top of the jet and that it was "cigar or rugby ball-like" in shape, bright silver and "metallic" in construction.
The publication of the report was released to the press on January 6th, 2013.
Nick Pope, who was a former Ministry of Defense and UFO investigator, appeared on Ground Zero in May 2013. He reported that the UFO investigations in the U.K. were closed in 2009. However, this did not stop the sightings and the reports as the Civil Aviation Authority made the decision to look into reports being provided by air crew and air traffic controllers.
In 2012, it was announced that despite the fact that the MOD ceased its interest in UFO reports the National Air Traffic Control services claimed that there would be a report of a UFO every month.
Meanwhile, Russia is continuing its ongoing openness about its UFO history. There are reports that declassified documents confirm that Russia’s first contact with extraterrestrials happened in 1942.
It must be stressed that the so-called “little green men” mentality does not exist in Russia. The KGB was never at liberty to disclose anything to its citizenry and up until now has kept a tight lid on anything this strange.
However, as the state media begins the task of revealing - little by little - the UFO cases in Russia, imaginations are running wild and the UFO excitement that existed in the 1970’s through 1990’s in the United States has taken hold in Russia.
In the United States, the debate continues over exactly what the truth is behind the sightings of anomalous objects that are above the Earth. The U.S. Air Force has explained on many occasions that a lot of what is seen can be explained. However, with the obsession of extra-terrestrial mythology and reality, every bright light, shooting star, experimental plane, and weather anomaly can end up on the front pages of tabloid newspapers and on special fringe news programs labeled as bona fide extra-terrestrial craft with the acronym UFO attached to it.
The truth is that while much of what we think of UFO’s can be attributed to cold war mythology, the reality has taken a turn for the complex and the use of experimental aircraft has now created a new discipline for the UFO researcher.
There is no denying that UFO’s are out there; the truth, however, no longer is.
The old axiom of the “truth” being out there becomes trite and hollow as the identification process unveils both elaborate hoaxes and the frightening reality of remarkable aircraft designed by the military and, in some cases, by entities or intelligences far beyond our comprehension.
