A few weeks ago, speculation was in high gear over what exactly was happening in Antarctica. I was noticing news stories that reported high profile people were venturing to the South Pole for no apparent reason.

Since that program aired, I received a mountain of messages via e-mail Facebook and Twitter requesting that I talk about airbrushed Google Earth images near Lake Vostok, crashed UFOs and secret Nazi bases like Base 211, portals to a hollow earth, an ice wall surrounding a flat Earth, even possible connections to CERN as a strangelet may have found its way to the end of the Earth.

I did say during the last program about Antarctica that I believed a special announcement was going to be made about the South Pole and when it is revealed, I would update everyone.

Reports have been coming in about a lot of peculiar activity in the southern hemisphere, from earthquakes to UFO activity. Many of these stories may or may not have connections to Antarctica, but the most southern regions of the planet have produced more questions than answers an it is anyone’s conspiracy du jour as to what may be happening there.

First off, I would like to first entertain the idea that perhaps something very simple was discovered by Russian scientists when the first started drilling at Lake Vostok. Lake Vostok, seen so far only on radar, is believed to be warmed by geothermal energy.

The quantity of oxygen there exceeds that on other parts of our planet by 10 to 20 times. If the Russians kept a secret of life forms there, they would have been the most unique creatures on Earth. Some people have speculated it is so unique, that they would appear to be alien to this planet.

There are skeptics that conclude the amount of oxygen there would be toxic to any form of life. Once again, we would conclude that the species may have adapted or they may be alien life forms which have hitched a ride on celestial rocks from Mars or elsewhere.

This could have implications for the search for life elsewhere in the solar system. Jupiter’s moon Europa and Saturn’s moon, Enceladus have both been seen by NASA probes to have icy crusts, but, apparently, enough heat from inside to raise at least the possibility of hidden oceans. Europa in particular has been hopefully labeled as a possible home for extraterrestrial life. Space scientists would like to know a lot more about them. Could Lake Vostok, half a billion miles closer, offer clues as to what lies beyond, in the cold reaches of space?

An alternative to earthly abiogenesis is “exogenesis”, the hypothesis that primitive life may have originally formed extra-terrestrially, either in space or on a nearby planet such as Mars.

In the 1980s, scientists started pushing the theory of “panspermia”. This is the idea that the origin of life on Earth must have involved cells which arrived from space, and that evolution on earth is driven by a steady influx of viruses arriving from space via comets.

A meteorite found in Antarctica in 1984 (ALH84001) has been shown to have a chemical composition very similar to that on the surface of Mars, including bubbles of trapped gas consistent with an early Martian atmosphere, and seems to have been blasted into space and then to Earth by an asteroid or comet collision with Mars. Interestingly, the rock also shows evidence of what appear to be microscopic worm-like formations, suggesting fossilized Martian bacteria.

Recently, an Ancient Aliens episode that aired on the History Channel reported that pyramids were recently discovered in Antarctica. Two of the pyramids were located about 10 miles inland, while one pyramid was very close to the shore. It was also reported that bee pollen and ancient bacteria was found locked in ancient ice around the alleged pyramids.

Before Buzz Aldrin was airlifted from Antarctica recently because of a sudden illness, he allegedly sent out an ominous Tweet.

The Tweet was a picture of what appears to be a Pyramid structure or a very geometrically sound tetrahedral mountain and the words: “We are all in danger. It is evil itself.” The tweet was allegedly moved off of the official Buzz Aldrin Twitter account.

The pyramid structure is very curious and adds to the speculation that there may have been an ancient civilization that lived in Antarctica thousands of years ago.

The object was originally spotted in an aerial photo from Google Earth: The “pyramid” is located not far from the United Kingdom’s “Princess Elisabeth Station.”

Another structure has also been spotted in the deep snow of Antarctica.

What appears to be the remains oval shaped “building” is 400ft across and appears to have all the hallmarks of being a sizeable, man-made construction?

Satellite imagery clearly shows the structure, which closely resembles the ruins of a once giant building. It is so symmetrical it has raised questions as to whether nature alone could have designed it.

Scientists initially thought the discovery could be a sastrugi – a natural phenomenon formed by years of being battered by strong, freezing winds and heavy snowfall. But sastrugies always form a distinctive shape based on the direction of the wind and rarely appear as a distinct oval, such as the mystery formation in the satellite image.

Ancient civilizations in Antarctica have long been rumored to have existed, with people pointing to a map drawn in 1513 by Turkish Admiral Piri Reis as a clear sign of historic life.

The map shows Antarctica drawn impeccably well, despite it not officially being discovered until 1818.

Leading archeologist, Ashoka Tripathi, of the Department of Archaeology at the University of Calcutta, believes the images show clear evidence of an ancient human settlement beneath the ice sheet.

He said: “These are clearly features of some sort of human-made structure, resembling some sort of pyramidal structure. The patterns clearly show nothing we should expect from natural geomorphological formations found in nature. We clearly have here evidence of human engineering.

“The only problem is that these photographs were taken in Antarctica under 2km of ice. That is clearly the puzzling part; we do not have any explanation for this at the moment.

“These pictures just reflect a small portion of Antarctica’s total land mass. There are possibly many other additional sites that are covered over with ice. It just shows us how easy it is to underestimate both the size and scale of past human settlements.”

Many so called exobiologists are speculating that perhaps a civilization was flash frozen in the ice during a possible pole shift. Was this civilization an extra-terrestrial hybrid group that evolved from organisms brought from space?

Back in 2006, a massive object was detected by a GRACE Satellite. A team from Ohio State University claimed that there was a gravitational anomaly in an area of Antarctica known as Wilkes Land.

The anomaly indicated the presence of a huge “mass concentration” in the middle of a 300 mile wide impact crater, hidden beneath the ice cap. Some researchers believe the mass concentration or mascap is the remains of a giant meteorite, which was nearly three times the size of the Chicxulub asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs. If this theory is correct, it could explain the Permian–Triassic extinction, which occurred 250 million years ago and wiped out 96% of all of the Earth’s sea creatures and 70% of land-based vertebrates.

This could mean that large asteroids are not only global killers, but they bring with them the building blocks to start life all over again.

So are we to assume that Antarctica use to be a lush green continent with ancient civilizations that were wiped out in what science calls impact winter?

An impact winter is a hypothesized period of prolonged cold weather due to the impact of a large asteroid or comet on the Earth’s surface. If an asteroid were to strike land or a shallow body of water, it would eject an enormous amount of dust, ash, and other material into the atmosphere, blocking the radiation from the sun.

This would cause the global temperature to decrease drastically. If an asteroid or comet with the diameter of about 3.1 miles or more were to hit in a large deep body of water or explode before hitting the surface, there would still be an enormous amount of debris ejected into the atmosphere. It has been proposed that an impact winter could lead to mass extinction, wiping out many of the world’s existing species.

The evidence seems to suggest that all life on Earth has developed from a single organism back in the mists of time, and perhaps even from one single common ancestral cell. Was one species, like the dinosaurs sacrificed so that another species like humans and other animals could survive?

How many times have we had a genesis on this planet – and how many times have there been extinctions and second genesis or third or fourth?

In the beginning there was chaos, a world without form and void, then from the mists and the destruction came new land masse, oceans, fish, beasts, and mankind. This would indicate that human life itself may be pre-terrestrial.

Current thought suggest the “last universal common ancestor,” he hypothetical latest living organism from which all organisms now living on Earth descend, or, in other words, the most recent common ancestor of all current life on Earth is estimated to have lived some 3.5 to 3.8 billion years ago. However, the actual mechanism for its origination is still far from clear.

Are the secrets of our origins buried deep in the ice of Antarctica?

Well, things are about to change and it may yield more of its secrets.

An icy thread measuring a mere 12 miles long is all that’s anchoring a massive iceberg the size of Delaware to its home in West Antarctica, scientists are now reporting.

If the iceberg breaks away — an event known as calving — the Larsen C Ice Shelf in Antarctica will lose more than 10 percent of its area, which amounts to about 2,000 square miles , according to Project MIDAS, an Antarctic research project based in the United Kingdom.

MIDAS researchers noticed the rift in 2014, and have used satellite and other data to monitor it ever since. The rift made headlines late last year when NASA’s Ice Bridge mission snapped a photo showing the eerily immense crack, which measured 70 miles long, more than 300 feet wide and about one-third of a mile deep as of Nov. 10, 2016.

However, the rift has worsened since November, Project MIDAS announced yesterday.

The Larsen C Ice Shelf is the South Pole’s fourth-largest ice shelf, and holds back the frozen land-based glaciers behind it. If the iceberg breaks off, the slow-flowing glaciers will have one less barrier between them and the sea.

It’s possible that Larsen C will follow in the same footsteps as Larsen B, which disintegrated in 2002 after a similar rifting event, according the Project MIDAS blog. The Larsen A Ice Shelf disintegrated in 1995.

If the Larsen C Ice Shelf does break off from Western Antarctica, it will be among the top 10 largest icebergs on record.

Once it breaks off, the iceberg isn’t expected to raise sea levels. But if the shelf continues to fall apart, then the glaciers that flow off the land might have an impact on sea levels. Estimates show that if all of the ice held back by the Larsen C Ice Shelf were to enter the sea, global oceans could rise by 4 inches.

The story of Antarctica is the story of secrecy enshrouded in government non-disclosure and cover-up. Yet scientists from primarily the United States, Russia, United Kingdom and France, each largely working separately for decades, have guardedly unveiled layers of truth in small bits and pieces that reveal a mysterious, darkly hidden past.

The ancient Hermetic euphemism “as above, so below” can easily be applied to ongoing changes in the Earth’s polar regions as a microcosm to the profound widespread changes currently taking place at the macrocosm level throughout our solar system and beyond.

If we find signs of ancient or microbial life in Antarctica, science is certain it will find life in space.
