When I was a kid my Aunt would come over for Thanksgiving. She was a little strange
and spoke very soft and slow and at times it was a task just to keep interest in what
she had to say. One of things that she always brought over to the house was a Zenith
oceanic radio. The Radio had several bands and it monitored not only FM and AM but
television broadcasts, Airport, Fire, Police and Shortwave.

Fire and Police bands were always interesting to listen to, but at night I would sneak
the radio into my room and I would turn the dial slowly while listening to the shortwave
bands. My father wouldn’t let me listen to the shortwave bands because he told me
that there were communist stations that would broadcast propaganda. My father was a
child of the cold war and I all I knew was that Communism was an evil thing.

When I listened to the shortwave bands I kind of felt as though I was listening to
something spooky. All you would hear were the whines of frequency changes and
strange ghostly voices speaking in numbers and different languages.

I didn’t understand how all of this was going to harm me. In fact it intrigued me. What
was I listening to and what were the buzzes, chirps, tones and numbers I was hearing?

I had asked around and nobody knew what I was talking about. Even my Uncle Alan
was a Ham Radio operator and he said that he had heard the numbers and sounds on
the radio and he believed they were stations identifying frequencies.

Time had passed and our Thanksgiving get-togethers with aunt Lilly slowly came to an
end. I no longer was able to listen to the shortwave radio. Every so often I would stay
up late listening to AM slowly changing the dial and finding out that after dark I could
pick up radio stations broadcasting 100’s of miles away. When I lived in Salt Lake City,
I used to listen to KFI in Los Angeles. I would listen to Gary Owens and Hudson and
Landry. If I recall there was a disco ape. I actually thought that it was a rip-off of Rick
Dees Disgorilla.

Further on in my life I was able to listen again to shortwave radio but this time we
listened to keep abreast of what was happening in a place where a civil war was

I recall in 1983 we heard a broadcast of Simon and Garfunkel in Central Park over a
shortwave radio in Argentina. While people were being shot at outside our door in
Buenos Aires, that small little box was the only pipeline I had to home. I would listen to

all of the strange beeps and hums, the numbers were back and Born again Ministers
would broadcast all over the world from the United States.

I would stay up practically all night listening. I had my hand on the pulse of the entire
planet. I was hearing Michael Jackson and how Thriller was taking the world by storm
and Cyndi Lauper was also a superstar at the time giving Madonna a run for her money.

Much of the sound of the shortwave radio is the reason why My radio show sounds the
way it does. The layered montages are similar to what the Short-wave radio sounded
like. Bits and pieces of words, that leaves you with a chilling feeling. The counting of
numbers by disembodied voices without feeling made you wonder if there were ghosts
being heard on the frequencies.

Now I wonder if some of them are ghost voices, What I do know is that many of these
Number counting stations are exactly what my father told me they were, in a sense. It
isn’t necessarily communist propaganda, it is however the way spies, and secret agents
communicate during or before a war.

Since World War I it is believed that the numbers being broadcast are secret codes that
are sent to agents who are told to listen to a frequency to get their orders. When traffic
is especially heavy on the radios, it is believed that some major event is about to take
place whether it be a coup or a full on war.

In June of 2010 The FBI arrested 10 people for allegedly serving for years as secret agents of Russia’s intelligence with the goal of penetrating U.S. government policymaking circles. People I am sure were shocked about this. It sounds like something straight out of a cold war blockbuster.

They were asked by Russian intelligence to learn all they could about our nuclear weapons and where they are positioned, policies about Iran, White House rumors, CIA leadership turnover, the last presidential election, and the Congress and political parties.

What was the tool they used to receive their orders? It was a short wave radio. Itwasn’t sophisticated or high tech it was just a simple 1920’s era technology. The spies would sit down in front of their radios with spiral notebooks and write down a series of numbers.

The most important thing to remember is that these numbers can be heard by anyone

in the United States. All they have to do is find the frequency in the spectrum that according to a report was somewhere near the BBC reports and Radio Francebroadcast. You just wait for a beep, buzz, tone or music indicator and jumping from one continent to another is your home of smooth classic espionage without any commercial interruption. Spies don’t even have to be caller 9 to get their prize. The information they get is in numbers, dots and dashes. All they need to do is decode it.

A lot of people may say that the Russian technology is way behind if their spies are forced to sit around a stone-age shortwave radio to get their information. However the Russians are not the only ones sending out numbers codes. MI6 in the United Kingdom has number stations relays all over the world. Israel has been known to use the some methods and the United Sates does as well.

What better way to get intelligence? You need technology that doesn’t leave an electronic footprint. We all know that phone calls can be traced; Internet IP addresses can also be located. Numbers stations give some anonymity and they can easily bepicked up and decoded. Those who hear the numbers don’t have a clue as to what they mean and what they are for, so it is a brilliant concept. Radio enthusiasts call the broadcasts Spook communications or Spook broadcasts They hunt up and down the dial to find numbers stations and some try to crack the number codes.

The numbers stations are eerie. They have a paranormal nature about them. They play a signature music selection, a few beeps and then the monotone voice of a person counting.

One of the most infamous Numbers Stations broadcast was recorded in 1993 during the Communist coup against Boris Yeltsin. It was an ominous repeating of the Number 5 or p’yat. .The number had repeated for hours. I suppose it is not surprising that many of the Numbers stations heavy traffic broadcasts are coming from Korea. The traffic increase in numbers transmissions are now between Seoul and Pyongyang. Chances are before North Korea broke the cease fire there was an increase of traffic then.

One thing that these numbers stations do is allow spies or agents blend in with the
average person. The idea that crackdowns and measures at the airports by the TSA
or border surveillance does any good to keep unwanted spies or terrorists out of the
country is completely without merit. We are being watched, studied, and, at times,
manipulated by skilled foreign operatives, and U.S. counterintelligence efforts face

serious challenges in keeping up with the spy threat. When Homeland security says
that they are hearing chatter about possible terrorist threats all they are hearing is the
Number station Frequencies sending off random numbers that may or may not be the
code numbers for detonating a dirty bomb or blowing up a shopping center.

Signals and broadcasts are constantly being received within our borders. One of the
more infamous cases here in the United States involved an unfortunate incident of
mistaken identity with former CBS news anchor Dan Rather In 1986, Rather was
chased, pummeled and kicked on a Manhattan sidewalk by a well-dressed man who
kept asking, “What’s the frequency Kenneth?”

The man turned out to be William Tager who is now in prison for shooting an NBC
Stagehand. Tager told his Psychiatrist that he thought the news media was beaming
signals into his head. One of his obsessions apparently was to find out the frequency of
the signals.

There was a report later that during this time there actually were signals being sent
out by the CIA to track Russian Submarine coordinates. Perhaps Tager was hearing
the numbers in his head. The incident happened as The United States was helping
Afghanistan fight the Russians.

William Tager allegedly crashed an ultra light home-built aircraft. He suffered head
injuries and doctors put a metal plate in his skull before he started hearing the signals. .

It is reasonable to assume that other people have found ways to do this type of
broadcast. I am sure that there are smaller stations broadcasting codes for drug cartels
and yes I am sure there are signals being sent by operatives to several domestic
terrorist groups here in the United States.

The stations are hard to find and they are unlicensed. The biggest cover up of all is that
no one ever admits to running one, or making the broadcasts. This lends credence to
the idea that the stations themselves are automated and move from location to location
to avoid detection.

As we are sitting down to another Thanksgiving meal, it is interesting to take into
consideration that weeks before the Holiday there was speculation about a Missile that
was fired in the Pacific. The documentation provided by the Department of defense
clearly stated that there would be ordinance and missile firings and numbers of locales
were indicated to be in the very area where the incident occurred.

This incident was also coded and broadcast on a Numbers station months prior.

However the incident was only veiled with other so called information that allegedly
made some outrageous predictions. In August of 2010 it was reported that a Numbers

operating station had sent out coded words that amateur decoders had discovered.

UVB-76 is the call-sign of a shortwave radio transmission that broadcasts what many
believe to be Russian Morse code. Also known as the buzzer that has the sound of a
alarm clock with a flat battery. Since 1982 there were only 3 times when the buzzer’s
signal got interrupted.

It was reported that on August the 23rd 2010. A person with a “Hebrew” voice said the
following words:

UVB-76, UVB-76 – 93 882 naimina 74 14 35 74 – 9 3 8 8 2 nikolai, anna, ivan, michail,
ivan, nikolai, anna, 7, 4, 1, 4, 3, 5, 7, 4.

Many people were surprised that the channel was broadcasting because the channele
was usually used by the Russians to give them their orders.

If you take the first letter of each word it spells NAIMNA which could be “na imena”
which means “on names” as if someone is giving them names. An anonymous decoder
had said that he had some serious ideas as to what was being indicated on that

The person had said that the codes were all allegedly indicating that there would be an
assassination attempt on Russian president Dmitry Medvedev in September of 2010.
This allegedly would be the act of North Korean operatives. It was predicted by the
anonymous code breaker that the cease fire would end between North and South Korea
in October of 2010.

The decoder was off by one month and the Russian President is still alive. It was also
predicted that The United States and Japan will join South Korea during the cease fire
as China will with side with North Korea.

It was also reported that the plan was to use Nuclear weaponry, especially in nuclear
incidents that are supposed to happen in Los Angeles. Terrorist groups would then
move in on the east coast attempting to bomb planes, busses, and trains. The Stock
market would then crash and civil unrest would ensue. President Obama and other
continental political figures would be evacuated to an undisclosed location.

Keep in mind that only one prediction came true and it was a month off. The question
of errant missiles, failed talks with China, money problems, and the raising of the
European Nuclear shield makes nothing seem out of the question.

Pay attention to the numbers. You can count on them to mean that the countdown has
